ABOUT

Elizabeth McClain (aka The Pumpkin Bumpkin™) is a professional pumpkin carving artist operating out of the Hudson Valley for over 6 years. As a traditional artist in a rural area, Elizabeth was naturally drawn to this unique seasonal art form that combines creativity with the region's bounty of local produce. Beyond being a way to practice the fine arts and celebrate the season, Elizabeth enjoys sharing the carving arts to connect with and give back to her community.

CORE VALUES

Community Engagement

Elizabeth began her carving journey as a way to get involved with and give back to her community. She enjoys supporting small businesses and frequently volunteers her time and carving talents to support non-profits and causes that she is passionate about.

Celebrating The Fine Arts

In a world where the digital arts and screen time are taking over, preserving the physical arts is more important than ever. Not only does practicing the art of pumpkin carving allow us to pass down technical skills, it also gives us a chance to focus and enjoy a simple task at hand while connecting with others and a product that is 100% unique to us.

Eco-Friendly Practices

An advocate for sustainability, Elizabeth strives to work exclusively with biodegradable or upcycled materials, buys locally and uses a specially curated eco-friendly toolkit. Beyond pumpkin carving being a sustainable practice, the ephemeral nature of a piece of artwork that lasts a short period of time makes it even more unique to enjoy!

Keeping Seasonal Traditions Alive

Though Halloween has become more and more commercialized over the years, pumpkin carving has important ties to the celebration of the harvest, giving thanks and providing for one's community.
